Preserving Our Jazz Heritage Now and Into the Future

The Mutual Musicians Foundation,  once known as Local 627, or the “colored musicians union,” is credited with the creation of the Swing Era of Jazz in America.  Mutual Musicians honors the legacy left to us by associates Count Basie, Mary Lou Williams, Ben Webster, Lester Young and Charlie Parker.

Mutual Musicians Foundation looks to the future, and KOJH FM will broadcast works and performances of MMF's "Young Jazz Masters" program that consists of urban based youth ages 8 to 17 being given educational opportunities in jazz music.

Additional local productions will include:

  • Local high school and elementary school music curricula and performance

  • Gospel and blues music-heritage programming for youth via the vast church system of the African American heritage

  • News of rehearsal times and events
